PostSubject: Taking the King for its first ride   Wed 10 Mar - 12:31

Got a chance Sunday to take the King out for the first time and put about 10 miles on it. All I can say is WOW! Compared to the M50 I came off of this thing is truly a beast. I only took it up to around 3-4k rpm and maybe 1/4 throttle and even then its so much faster than the M50 and most any car I've driven. The brakes are fantastic and will take some getting used to, I almost busted a stoppie a few times because they're so good and its nice having a rear brake that actually works.

The steering and handling feel much better and it seems I don't have to put much effort into turning like you would with the M50 the bike just kind of goes. The riding position for me is weird as hell as I've only ever ridden a cruiser (other than some around the block rides on friends 600's).

I have to say compared to the 600's I've ridden and the M50 this thing has torque and will happily chig along at 2krpm with plenty of power on tap. Even in 6th gear at 40-50mph at 2k rpm if you hammer the throttle it starts to go. click a couple downshifts and your a missle.

I rode the bike to work yesterday (has about 30 miles on it now) and got up to 5k rpms (max rpm during break in) and gave some half throttle in the 2nd and third gears and the bike is becoming even more impressive as I get more used to it. I belive the bike makes max power around 10k rpm so needless to say staying at 5k rpm and below is nothing compared to what will come lol. I;m probably going to shat myself the first time I give it full throttle and it lifts up. I;m smyling right now just thinking of it.

So far it seems to be a great bike, with the only complaint I have so far is I have to watch how I park cause backing this thing up/moving it around isnt always easy, even at 6'0 tall.

Hey man, good choice.

The comfort thing on the King is very much a personal
fit. For me, at 6'0", 32" inseam... I lowered it 1", added Buell footpegs (1" lower)
and 30mm Bar Risers....fits me like a glove now.

Enjoy your ride.

cheers

NGKTech, Never ridden a 600, just sat on one...too cramped for me. Maybe that's what
I enjoy about the BKing...bigger/heavier.

ReedMan, no not me, found link at ZX10r site. A little different.

Shocked
