| I went, track was really slow because of a strong headwind. terminal speed was down about 6mph. best I ran was a 10.6. There was a big turnout, so I didn't get as many runs as the last couple of shootouts. |

| I went, it was my first time on the King. I had 6 runs including a run in the Muscle Bike Challange, my best run was a 10.89 at 130mph. I am the closest one in that pic and the other is darthdino. Darthdino and I had a few very close runs, I think there is even video but it may take a while to edit and upload... It was a great turnout, 117 entry's I think, the weather was great but that head wind was a bit harsh! Muscle Bike Challange was good but I should have gone to a T&T so I had some pratice on the King, I am sure I can go quicker than 10.89! Here is a pic of just me: _________________ |

| I was there too but on my R1, missed the Kings rocket launching compared to the R1`s slow launching but once up to speed it was a rocket too, my best time was 10.82 and 129.9 mph. I will beat that at next Shootout in a couple of months with my King, hope we do not have head wind next time. |

| Yep. That is me in the other lane. This was the first time I have ever gone to the strip. My reaction times are slow and I still need to know the limits of the bike so I can get more confident at the begining.
Lots of fun.
My wife took some video footage, I will be uploading to utube soon (as soon as I can work it out).
I know I can improve on 10.8sec (maybe loose about 30kg from my guts would be a start) by improving reaction times and contol of the clutch/throttle at the begining.
Too bad I didn't have this down as I lined up to a new Vmax. He pulled a 10.4. I done 2-3 wheelstands at the begining with a 11.2, but the top speed at the end was the same. Damn.
Definitely be going next time. |

| Thanks for the tip loudpipes, I will try that! It was at the factory recomended 42psi. How could I not take it to the track I live 5 minutes from the strip. Not that I noticed much slip after doing this: _________________

Try letting some air out of that tire, looks pretty round in the pic, you must be getting some wheel slip. Try 15-12lbs if not a soft tire.

Actually not really a good idea at all IMO. The issue with the BKing is wheelies, not traction, least not at our track. We got ours to run fastest by increasing the pressure, not decreasing.
You want some slip, if it hooks up hard at standard height, its all over time wise.
Plus, that tyre will work better over 20lbs, regardless of anything else, pressures too low can see the middle fold in, its not a race tyre. You can see in that picture the front tyre is already of the ground, dont need any more traction that that.
Just my opinion, feel free to let your tyres down as far as you want. |

| Here's a backflip for ya, where's that compressor, bring that air line this way! I was going to mention that this track is a very tacky track with plenty of grip. | 08KNG wrote: | | You must be tall dude ??????????????? |
6'4" so the 30mm peg adjusters made a world of differance for me!_________________ |

| Strap the front end down to try to move your CG forward and adjust your spring stiff along with harder dampening. You want to control the CG change as much as possible for your weight. Tire slipage will cost you big with your ET. Just a couple of tire rotations will cost you at least a tenth anymore will be much worse. A very quick burn or peel out may be costing 1/2 second or more. I could not get that stocker to hook with the horses the bike creates. Just bring a small air tank with you and find the best pressure that works for you. The 60 ft is key to a good run and toughest. Then tucking tight and hitting the gears at the right RPM shiting with out the clutch. You can ride the clutch a ways that will help the wheelie control. try to use more stomach muscles to reduce the pull on the bars. I also grip the sides pretty hard with my knees all while getting completety tucked by the end of first gear. Wind resistance eats up HP to wheel pretty big quickly. I have close to 100 passes on this bike, hope some of this helps. My best was 9.94 and now I am running 51/18 gears, strut, straps, wheelie bar, shinko ultra soft, best 9.85 @ 139.7 with no big power adders and I have a rider weight of 265lbs. Anyways there is nothing better than running at the strip, its safe and LEGAL. For fun I don't shut her down right after crossing the trap all the time. I have done 168 with the 59" wheelie bar hanging off the swingy and she was rock solid |

I agree regarding the wheelie issue, with the grip available at the track traction has never been a problem for me, but I am stock height and length. |

| IMHO. Tyre pressue is simple...... as high as you can run it without it spinning up on the given track on the given day. Lower tyre pressure = more rolling friction = LOWER mph.
Wheelies are the scurge of the BK, throttle and clutch control is the answer, if it really whips up in the top of 1st, just short shift it into second. The cubes will cover it.
I was running consistent 9.7s @ 140mph on 40 psi.(good sticky track)Stock w/base, lowered 2 inches front and rear. |

Playing with tyre preasures and ride heights is good if you've reached your limit, If your running consistent times within a few 10th's every run. If not you need to run it, run it and run it again untill you are.
If you are not consistant as a rider playing with the bike wont help much or tell you anything.
As a pretty poor rider who visits the strip about once a year, I run a constant 10.3 something. ( stock height, stock bike, 40psi, No burn-outs ) So do a lot of other riders, several I know do much better.
