Honda is planning to source out parts for there bikes form India.
http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news--general-news/honda-to-source-new-bike-parts-from-india/8986.html
We had some dies and taps made in India and they wouldn't even work on a good nut. Quality was garbage.
Another think to watch out for is Kawasaki is going to start having bikes made in South America. I don't know which ones but just the thought of it scares me away from buying a Kawi.

I'm not necessarily on the 'junk' bandwagon just because it comes from somewhere like China, India, etc. With the right expectations and quality control by those buying the stuff, they can make as good a product as anyone. I believe the biggest problem (your tap and die set may be a good typical example) is that the buyers/distributors here at home are just looking for the lowest price, and they either don't specify a quality level - or just don't have a clue, frankly - and so the manufacturer just sells them what they want at the price they want.

That being said, yes, there is a lot of junk coming from these countries. But, as with anything, if it looks too good to be true, you should ask questions. If you're paying Snap on Tool prices, that would be another thing!

So are Triumph. They have had a "parts" plant there for a while to supply the UK
but now assemble some models there (Chonburi, Thailand )
I think its only twins not triples.

I've owned a Kawasaki made in the US but sold in the UK,
Ridden a Honda's made in the US, a Yamaha made in Brazil,
none of which ever visited Japan dispite being called "Ricer's"
My Harley had forks made by Showa(Honda) Checkoslovakian electrical parts,
Cables "Made in Japan" piss-poor engine from the US etc etc.

Many bikes use parts sourced from around the world,
in many cases the place of "Build" is just that, an assembley point.

I remember when in the UK if we bought a Ford we'd look to see where it was built.
I think it was UK = Lucas electric's, Germany = Bosch.

I find it quite interesting.
