| That sucks for Buell.
IMO it is because of the ties with H-D. I am not bashing H-D but the sport bike scene isnt really the Harley scene. They should have gon with the Rotax powerplants early on.
If you want a sport bike you get a sport bike, you want a Harley you buy a Harley not many people seem to want a sport bike with a Harley motor in it. _________________ OES spools, frame and fork sliders, EVO radiator guard, Yoshimura exhaust and eliminator, Sunline tour grips, PCIII, OEM gel seat, OEM sport pack, Race Tech spings

| Man it hurts to see a person lose the love of his life. Hope things get better for him and his employees. Although I have heard that a Harley plant in Wisconsin is shutting down for a while this fall and is closing next year. It doesn't look good for the whole HD family. _________________ Mods. | Harley stock is now tanking mostly due to its finance arm not being able to loan $ to people wanting to buy their overpriced bikes. Plus Harley took on big debt to recently buy MV Agusta which they are now trying to sell.
I totally agree with heavyhitter a Buell is not a sportbike due to the inherent ill designed low performance heavy weight Harley engine.
Maybe due to the economy but people are now more interested then ever in buying value and value is hard to justify at Harley Davidson. |

| That sucks. Having owned a Buell and living just 7 miles from the Buell factory, and having the honor of meeting Erik, it blows me away. The mans carries no "air' about him. Hes just a motorcycle guy. He looked like hell in that video. |

| The 'bubble' of bike buying was the same as the 'real estate' bubble. People using house equity as an ATM account. Lotsa easy money then. I saw Young couples buying Harleys and financing everything...bike, gear and even their dew rags...financed. With the economy in the tank just look around and see how many H-D's for sale because jobs have evaporated. H-D must not have heard of 'economic cycles', pun intended. Here, the custom chopper is also 'DEAD' and many $60,000 custom choppers are not moving...pun intended. Back to topic: never could figure out Buell but I like their footpegs on the B-King! Thank the cycle gods for Jap bikes, reliable, cheap and they perform! _________________ |

Oh HELL yea! The Harley dealers here have quite a few "one of a kind" custom choppers made my various smaller companies. They been collecting dust.
There is a Big Dog Customs dealer here and the owner told me they sold one bike ALL YEAR! People just dont want to spend $40k + on eye candy. _________________ OES spools, frame and fork sliders, EVO radiator guard, Yoshimura exhaust and eliminator, Sunline tour grips, PCIII, OEM gel seat, OEM sport pack, Race Tech spings

| tough times for cycles. we have had 5 dealerships in the past year shut down in the area. 1 HD, 2 BMW, and 3 Jap bikes. the one BMW and one Jap dealerships have been around for more than 30 years! pretty sad. |

| OH SNAP!
October 16, 2009 AP Iwata, Japan
In a statement released by Yamaha Motor Corporation, Hirofumi Osawa, President of Yamaha Corporation of America, stated that the company is looking into acquiring recently defunct Buell Motorcycles. “We are interested in the spirit of innovation that Buell has used as a foundation in their business. We feel their values align well with Yamaha’s culture”, stated Mr. Osawa.
According to Yamaha, discussions of a purchase are in the exploratory stage. Hardly-Davidson Corp, owner of Buell since 2003, could not be reached for comment. _________________ OES spools, frame and fork sliders, EVO radiator guard, Yoshimura exhaust and eliminator, Sunline tour grips, PCIII, OEM gel seat, OEM sport pack, Race Tech spings

| Guys,
I gotta say, I was offered a job recently selling HD's at a local dealer. In January, they were number 3 in the country for total sales made. I am seriously considering this as a new line of work. I sat down and went over the numbers and people are buying bikes, from THIS dealer. It is located directly next to an army base, along with a metric dealer selling Suzukis and Kawasakis. I purchased my B-King from that very dealer.
Harley is what it is. It's a status symbol and a cult following. I don't understand it, but if it puts more money in my pocket than I have now; I will park a V-Rod Muscle next to the B-King and drink the company Kool-Aid by the gallons. Buell's 1125r had 3 recalls in the first month of it's release. None of which dealt with the Rotax motor. One guy brought his back after a ride and the frame, which hold the gasoline, was scalding hot. The gas had to be boiling. A reflash of the ECU cured the problem. |

| My concern with working for HD would be their long-term outlook. I see their "cult" following dropping in direct proportion with the baby-boomers. In general, the younger bikers have no allegiance to Harley. JMO |
