PostSubject: Tony's cheap toy.   December 23rd 2009, 03:16

As posted elsewhere on here (probabley in someone else's thread) I bought a Bandit-12.
Loved the Mk1, had one for 6 years, most fun I've ever had with a bike.
Very cheap and nasty, a honest do-anything bike not pretending to be something its not.
Cant get on with the 1250. Might be a better bike but dont have the same "feel"

So I bought this.......cheap!

Week later pulled the front end out......

Forks had rust, really didnt like the fairing, bald front tyre,
front guard had too many scratch's and scars.

Who own's a faired bike ? Not me.... Wink

New Pilot Power front tyre,
better rust free forks,
new bulbs, new grip's,
SV headlight,
new brake light switch,
B12N headlight mounts, better front guard,
new brake light switch.

Just about ready for its Safety Cert (MOT)
Just need to give it a clean.

Will run it around for a bit then start the mod's.

Off to Qld Transport for a plate and some rego.
......then out to play !

Got to love Xmas in Oz.... Cool

Depending on finances, I'll be ordering a B-King very shortly.

Was a tough choice between it and the MT-01.

Of all the test bikes I've ridden, they're my favourites.

I do like the Mt01's, but couldnt live with the lack of top end.
If i rode alone, or went for lazy rides or cruises i think it'd be great.
Everyone i've ridden with run's out of steam when you turn up the pace.
Doesnt make them a bad bike. Different horses for different courses.

Thank's.
Just got back from a spin around Bayside,
I love it !!!

Got a couple of little jobs to do still then i'll start thinking about what to do with it.
Mates have USD fronts / Turbo's / NOS etc on them.

Not a patch of the B-K but gives a lot more "feel" if that makes sense ?

She stand's up on one pretty easy too..... Laughing

Hard to say. I admit the BK is a far better bike but i've always liked "tweeked/modded/breathed on" older stuff.
My old B12 with the gas was 168-pony's, pretty much the same as a BK, but it just felt
wild. Always been a fan of basic simple big-horse power bikes, Z1000's, Katana's etc.
BK is by far the best out of the crate bike i've ever owned, 163 pony's and 10.3 quarters stock,
dont regret buying it, but it doesnt excite me the way nitrous or turbo's on "Old Skool" stuff does.

I've kept the BK for 2 years and 2 months so it cant be all bad..... Wink

1-1-10

1st day of the year, 1st ride of the year.
A lazy tour of Bayside. Mt Cotton, Victoria Point,
Cleveland, Wellington Point etc with a few detours.

SV is the Mrs's. Bought as a 1st bike when she got her licence as neither of us think
the BK is much fun with a pillion (compared to Busa/Bandit/GSX)

Great little bike. I really like them. This one has 110,000k's (70,000 miles) on the clock
and has never given us a problem. She regularly does over 600k (375 mile) rides.
Run's out of steam at illegal speeds but huge fun in the twisty's. If she get's another
bike i'd be happy to keep it.

A recent 1185k's / 736 miles round trip over-nighter to Agnes Waters

Tony, I like your Bandit. I rode a buddies 1200 and really liked it. I test rode the Bandit 1250 the same day I test rode my B-King. If the B-King hadn't dropped almost $3,000 US in price I would have bought the Bandit. Enjoy it you will!
