PostSubject: My first 300 km's   June 28th 2009, 07:48

At last today I took a spin on my brand new king. 300 km's in the mountainous territory full of twisties.
After many years of gixxers from 1991, firs time on a this kind of an animal.

I still shake my head. I feel no cheated AT ALL. This thing is awesome!!! So easy to ride, begs for corners and dose it all brilliantly!!!
I thought the bike is so fresh, it will be a boring ride, pulling to the left side (Australia) and let the others go.

Well not so!!! The motor pulls so hard from 2000 revs that even if 5000 is the max. for now, it is plenty on these winding roads where can't go more than 140 kmp anyway. Straights are mostly short.
But the handling!!! I was shocked. She was so confident in corners, after 80-90 km's I felt the tires are ready to rock so we went!!!

Instead of letting other bikes (heaps on Sunday here) pass, I passed them with ease!!! Whattta....
I Duke, and another gixxer 1000 started to chase, but couldn't overtake until a longer straight, where you can go up to 230, then a 50k right hander at the end.

What I'm saying is the king's weight and size is simply dose not exists on the ride. Soon as the feet are on the pegs, all the Goliath thing is vanished. Superb!

I love the seating position, I love everything on the bike, the smooth engine, honey smooth gearbox, great breaks, firm but comfy suspension etc.
I love this bike, very happy to find that everything I expected from this bike, she has delivered more and beyond. And at the end of the ride, no wrist pain, back pain, no pain anywhere. I'm just tired which is normal after this, but all my body parts are fine. Amazing.

I better stop here, I could go on and on. I don't know, I ride 33 years, but this thing was tailor made for me. I love it.

I here what your saying johneleven.I felt instantly comfortable and confident on the king.
My previous bike was a speed triple, which was a great little bike BUT I can go through my favorite stretch of twisties quicker on the king, because I feel so much more confident-it just feels planted.
What I love about the king is,even at my ripened age I can still scare the young pilots on sports bikes.

Right on. I even hit the twisties with the wife on today. She is fairly light though 130lbs, legs go all the way up.

The bike is smooth and I still touched my peg a couple of times. Rock solid

Thirsty though. 40 k's before got home I had to refill. (not that I care)
But I was rolling on and off a lot for the break in.
Question: on my gixxers the rear tire went down to the edge before the front, but with this bike it's the opposite. Is it the same with you??? I ride this one the same way as them.
