B-King Break-in
Folks, The B-King has ceramic cylinder coatings and not iron liners. Further it has ion treated rings. This means that there is no seating of the rings, they are perfect as they come and do not wear so hence no break-in. What you are breaking in is the main bearings, transmission bearings and valve train parts. In general it is not a good idea to overheat bearings before they seat.

is it true, a dealer told me,that the b-king has a 32 bit 1.024 kilobyte rom engine management system, just like on a HGV tachograph, tells you every thing, it can tell if you gone over the RPM (5000 rpm on the first 600 miles) making your warranty void if suzuki wants to use the info. i don't know, but can you do this,...mal.

hi mal

mines just gone in for its first service so ill ask when i pick it up this afternoon.

but i was asked if i followed the rules for run in has ive never had a new bike before i have.

he did mention a logging system but it mght only be for codes but you never know has

they will try anything to get out of warranties.

but on the flip side i mentioned my niggles,

the well known 4th gear bogging

the clutch which wasnt checked prior to me buying

and the occasional one the bike not going into gears which could be 1st 2nd or even 4th

and the gear indicator going blank but when i was speaking to them they got a folder out showing me what suzuki knows about them.

The article above says that break-in is all about ring seal. This is true in iron sleeved bikes. IT IS NOT TRUE IN CERANIC COATED CYLINDERS. The B-king doesn't have iron sleeves it has a ceramic coating directly on the alloy cylinder walls with ion treated rings. There is no break-in for them. The break-in is for the rod bearings and to a much lesser degree the valve train. Excessive load on the bearings before they seat will dramatically reduce bearing life.

not on the US models, can't speak for the ones over the pond. only thing stored in the computer are trouble codes, current or history. at least that we can get into at the dealership.
