PostSubject: gear indicator   April 29th 2009, 20:00

For the last week or so when I go into 1st gear the indicator goes blank.
All of a sudden it shows 1st again till I drive for a while and once again go into 1st and it's gone again.
When 1st goes blank all other gears and N will show.
There is no pattern it comes and goes

ANY IDEAS Sad

Maybe the gear position sensor is not tight or out of adjustment.

Hi, sorry for my english.

I have the same problem exactly. The sensor doesn't need adjustement. The problem is the chain grease obstructs the sensor is most cases. I have guarantee. I asked a new in workshop

If I remember correctly the GP (gear position) sensor is located behind the clutch assembly...basically in an oil bath! I don't think chain grease is the problem. There is a sensor that sits just outside of the drive sprocket (counter-sprocket) but I think it is the speed sensor.

I'd check the sensor connector (under tank, left side) first. If under warranty...I agree with taking it to the dealer.
