Sage advice, but an alternative that I do on my two-wheel stuff, even scooters, is to simply drill the drain bolt and the aluminum edge from the pan right beside it for safety wire. (And the safety wire it.) |

| Here's a neat trick, wait until everything has cooled, then take a medium ziplock freezer bag, wiggle the filter into it, seal it, and remove without leaking oil all over the headers. Might need the aid of some one with small hands. |

brake cleaner spray works great, but if you get it on flat black plastic parts, they like to turn white, so careful with brake cleaner  |
WD-40 will work just as well, and it quickly burns off without much mess. |
