| So I removed the filter but it wouldnt fit threw any of the spaces between the header and block. I unbolted the oil cooler but not the line and push the bottom of the cooler forward and removed the filter between the hearders and under the cooler..
How is everyone else doing it? |

| I can't remember exactly but I think I had to turn the filter on it's side and pull it out from the side of the bike, thus spilling oil all over the header, lol. The damn thing looked like a mosquito sprayer until I got it to the car wash to wash the oil off. |

| You dont have to unbolt the oil cooler at all, very simply to change the oil on the King.
Just unbolt the little belly pan, its just one bolt at the front, this leaves it still atached but loose in the front, then simply unscrew the filter, turn it upside down and wiggle it out between headers, a little messy but not to bad at all.
I think it may also be in the owners manual, but its pretty straight foward, good luck and use a new crush washer evertime on the drain plug and torque the pan bolt to 16.5 ftlbs |

Correct.. I also use the baking foil (alum foil) prior removing the oil filter, wrap the foile around the pipes and cut a holt where the lowest piont of the foil is. No messy at all. |

Great idea. Jeez, I've always been out there cleaning the pipes with friggin' Windex to get the oil off of them after I was done. Duh. |

I thought about the belly pan but wasnt sure if I could remove the front bolt and push it around or the whole thing had to come off.. Good to know.. That is how I will do it next time |

| 1 bolt on right side of belly pan. i spray windex on the pipes BEFORE unscrewing the oil filter. the oil slides right off the pipe. very little clean up. torque the drain plug with new washer to 16.5 ftlb |

Just used the foil trick you suggest. Great! Thx for the idea. Going to use it on my damn Subaru too, which has the filter above the suspension and usually makes a big mess. |

brake cleaner spray works great, but if you get it on flat black plastic parts, they like to turn white, so careful with brake cleaner |

The cleaner I use does not do that, CRC I think? |
you use the good stuff, the cleaner i used came from a 55 gallon drum put into a spray bottle. it turned by chain gaurd white. i'm sure it was chlorinated. with a little wax and some patience it turn to black again. was it in a green can? |
