PostSubject: Both External Oil Hoses (cam chain tensioner and cylinder head)   Sat 4 Dec - 15:39

Anyone have the OEM external rubber oil hoses that feed the cam chain tensioner and the cylinder head sitting around? I figure a few here have replaced the automatic cam chain tensioner with a manual one and have eliminated this oil hose completely. The turbo and supercharger guys especially. I need both hoses for mock up while I am still riding my B-King.

If anyone has them sittiing around and wants to sell them or can give me good measurements and maybe a photo or two of the banjo fittings on the ends it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Clint

Have got the dimensons of the hoses for you at work. Just stripped one down today and measured the hoses for you but forgot to bring the note home. Will post on here tomorrow for you. I know that te head to case pipe is 200 mm banjo centres with straight banjo's.
The neck length is 25 mm hose to banjo centre.
The tensioner hose size I will post tomorrow as I would be guessing.

Thanks for the help!! I am compiling a list of hoses I will have made out of braided stainless steel. I have a week or two left to ride and didn't want to sacrifice the time to tear down. Anyway, thanks for your help!

I can make your lines if you give me the dimensions and size fittings...I have all the tools for building SS lines or Lines of any type for that matter. I could probably save you a few dollars to boot. Labor is for free and cost of the materials is on you. Oh, you pay for shipping also.

Here is a few I build for my personal bike:

Are all the banjo bolts the same? If you have their thread pitch and length that would be awesome! Thanks again!

The tensioner oil pipe is 570mm banjo centres with 8mm banjo bolts. Didnt note the bolt length but I know the banjo is thicker than a stock Dash 2/3 goodridge fitting. The banjo's on the oil feeds are all straight with extended necks.
The head oil feed pipe is as I thought 200mm long with 10mm banjo, straight with extended neck. Again I didnt measure the banjo thickness. I have made an oil feed pipe for this hose from Goodridge. I used Dash-4 hose and fittings to get the oil flow(1/4" bore).
If you really need the banjo thicknesses let me know.
I also have the Goodridge part number for the banjo at the head as that is a special one with Dash4 to Dash 3 Banjo with extended neck. Not listed in the Goodridge book.
Will check at work tomorrow for you.

Toptune,
I was thinking the tensioner hose was going to be about 26". Thanks for the accurate measurements! I have a friend that works for Technafit who used to make hoses for Goodridge USA. He is making the hoses for me. I knew they were Dash 4 hoses from my friend. He should have all the fittings. I know the banjo bolts for the head hose are 10mm x 20mm x 1.25...just not sure about the tensioner banjo bolts length and thread pitch. I figure they are 10mm with 1.25 thread pitch just not certain about length. I'm going to give my friend the info on the hoses tomorrow so he can make them before he goes on vacation. Thanks again for all your help!

Thanks for the offer but I have a friend that has agreed to make these for me!

Toptune,
So just to be sure I understand, are the banjo fittings the same on both hoses (10mm Dash 3)? Do the 8mm banjo bolts on the tensioner hose have a shoulder under the flanged head to fit the 10mm banjo fitting properly?

The banjo and bolt sizes are as follows.
Tensioner banjo is 8mm hole size not 10mm.
Tensioner banjo thickness is 10mm.
Tensioner banjo bolt is 8mmx1.25x25mm.
Head feed pipe banjo is 10mm hole size.
Head feedpipe banjo thickness is 8mm.
Head feed pipe banjo bolt is 10mmx1.25x20mm.
The banjo thickness is not critical as you can always reduce the banjo bolt length to suit.
To confirm the tensioner banjo is not 10mm but 8MM.

Just noticed your last note.
No the tensioner bolt is not reduced with a shoulder.
The banjo to confirm is 8mm and the bolt is 8mm.
This could give you a problem using Dash-4 hose for this pipe.
Because this is a pressure feed pipe and not a through flow pipe ther is nothing to stop you using Dash-2/3 on this pipe as is will still keep the same pressure to the tensioner.

Toptune,
Thanks for the detailed info! The whole 8mm banjo fitting on a Dash 4 hose had me all messed up, but I have it straight now. Seems like Suzuki had the tensioner hose set up originally as a 10mm banjo dash 4 hose and then put the reducer plug in to bring the size down to the 8mm banjo fitting. Thanks again!
